Sustainability Manager - Singapore (Real Estate)

Our client is seeking an experienced Sustainability Manager to lead the development and execution of sustainability initiatives across their global protfolio. This role will focus on driving our net-zero strategy, managing climate risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with relevant sustainability frameworks, such as the CSRD and ISSB. The ideal candidate will possess strong stakeholder management skills, particularly engaging with senior stakeholders across multiple business units, including finance and internal audit. Additionally, a deep understanding of carbon reduction methodologies and sustainability reporting is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the company's net-zero roadmap, including ongoing data management and periodic reporting.
  • Explain and assess the requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and its impact on their European portfolio, ensuring alignment within the sustainability report (SR).
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for emission reductions, developing strategic pathways to achieve these goals.
  • Manage climate risk assessments and reporting, ensuring the identification and mitigation of potential risks.
  • Lead annual sustainability benchmarking exercises, such as GRESB and UNPRI, and provide recommendations to enhance sustainability practices in line with these frameworks.
  • Support the creation, writing, and publication of the annual sustainability report.
  • Participate in various sustainability initiatives, including investor engagement surveys on ESG matters.
  • Stay current with the ISSB framework and ensure the group-wide adoption of its standards.
Profile

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-8 years of experience in sustainability and climate risk within a business environment, preferably in the real estate sector.
  • Proven experience in setting and executing corporate emissions reduction goals, aligned with frameworks such as the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
  • Strong knowledge of energy and carbon reduction strategies in the built environment, including energy assessments, carbon footprinting, life cycle assessments, and carbon management.
  • Familiarity with key sustainability and reporting frameworks such as GRESB, UNPRI, GRI, TCFD, CSRD, and ISSB.
  • Exceptional project and programme management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders across multiple business units.

  • Ability to articulate the implications of sustainability regulations, including the CSRD, for real estate portfolios.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, engaging with HODs, finance teams, and internal audit as needed.
