The Director of Fundraising and Communications reports to the Director General; and oversees Oxfam Hong Kong’s fundraising and communications strategies and operations. His/her responsibilities are as follows:
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the charting of fundraising, engagement and communications strategies and delivery of results to support Oxfam work against poverty and related injustice in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and around the world.
- Lead and manage the Fundraising and Communications Unit, which comprises appeals, events, private partnership and communications teams, to formulate and execute annual plans and budgets to deliver the Oxfam goals and objectives in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and mainland China (the Greater China Region).
- Implement income development and communications plans which are creative, innovative and appropriate for inspiring popular support to Oxfam’s work against poverty.
- Maintain and enhance the brand positioning of the agency. Support the communication needs of Directorate and Programme Units. Serve a gate-keeping role in ensuring the quality of communications outputs of the whole agency.
- Lead team building to strengthen the agency’s fundraising channels and communications platforms, performance and partnerships through improving staff capability, developing human and organizational resources.
- As a member of the Senior Management Team, work in close coordination with other units of the agency and maintain productive working relationships and communications with the governance bodies. Also work in close liaison with Oxfam affiliates and the Oxfam International Secretariat.
- Direct and manage the establishment and upkeep of standards, protocols and performance of the agency fundraising to be recognized as best practices in the charitable INGO sector.
- Explore new opportunities, platforms and approaches to raise funds and communicate the agency brand values for wider and new public support. Inspire a new generation of supporters through a variety of digital and innovative marketing channels.
- Represent the agency in local and international forums to inspire and engage support from governments, corporates, foundations, donors, volunteers and the public to Oxfam mission.
- Contribute to risk register and alert agency with potential risk as necessary. Follow up the recommendations of the internal auditor in relation to the unit.
- Main location is based in Hong Kong headquarters and will have to travel to the Greater China Region and other programme countries of Oxfam when required.
