About the Opportunity:

Pacific Environment is seeking a passionate and experienced leader to join our climate campaign team. Based in Singapore, you will play a pivotal role in driving progress towards 100% zero-emission shipping in the region. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in climate issues, decarbonization, and government relations to advance impactful change.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement: Craft localized strategies and activities (industry, policy, port) to achieve zero-emission shipping in Singapore.
  • Program Management: Coordinate and manage program activities, timelines, and budgets for successful execution.
  • Global Collaboration: Ensure alignment in strategies with Pacific Environment's global climate campaign team.
  • Partnership Building: Cultivate and manage partnerships with government officials, industry leaders, academics,and NGOs to build broad support.
  • Policy Advocacy: Lead advocacy efforts to influence shipping-specific and related climate policy changes.
  • Communication & Representation: Produce policy analyses, represent Pacific Environment at events and forums,and communicate complex issues to diverse audiences.
  • Additional tasks: Oversee consultant/research projects, and perform other duties as assigned.
Profile

Qualifications:

  • Proven Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in relevant fields (NGOs, government relations, advocacy,campaigns, climate, etc.). Direct experience in renewable energy, heavy industry, or shipping decarbonization is a plus.
  • Climate Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in climate/energy issues and policies, particularly as related to shipping, ports, and heavy industries.
  • Campaign Success: A track record of achieving success in managing and winning regional or international environmental campaigns.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Strong advocacy, consensus-building, coalition-building, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication, including public speaking experience. The ability to analyze and communicate complex issues is crucial.
  • Project & Team Management: Exceptional skills in managing both projects and teams.
  • Relationship Building: Comfort building relationships with policymakers, industry representatives, NGOs, and media.
  • Singapore Focus: Cultural fluency, awareness of business practices, and understanding of climate issues in Singapore are essential.
  • Language Skills: English proficiency is required. Fluency in Malay, Mandarin, and/or Tamil is a plus.
  • Passion & Education: A strong passion for solving the climate crisis. Advanced degrees are a plus (optional: share yours in the application!).
