About the role

PT Bio Inti Agrindo is seeking a GIS and Carbon Staff member to join our environmental and geosciences team on a casual basis. This position is based in South Jakarta, Jakarta, and offers flexibility for those interested in contributing to our mission of advancing sustainable environmental management and carbon analysis.

In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting our organisation's geospatial information systems (GIS) and carbon accounting initiatives. You will work with cutting-edge technology to analyse environmental data, map geospatial information, and contribute to carbon monitoring and reporting efforts that drive our sustainability objectives forward.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain GIS and spatial databases for plantation, mill, conservation, and sustainability purposes.
  • Prepare and update thematic maps including HGU boundaries, planted areas, land cover, HCV/HCS areas, riparian zones, peat areas, conservation areas, fire hotspots, and other environmental maps.
  • Conduct spatial analysis, land-use change analysis, and monitoring using satellite imagery, GPS, drone, and other geospatial data.
  • Support calculation and monitoring of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from plantation and mill operations, including land-use change, fertilizer, fuel, electricity, POME, and other emission sources.
  • Support preparation and verification of GHG inventory and emission reduction program and carbon project.
  • Support monitoring and management of conservation areas, HCV/HCS areas, biodiversity, riparian zones, other environmentally sensitive areas including remediation araea.
  • Provide GIS, GHG, and conservation data required for RSPO, ISPO, NDPE, ESG, sustainability reporting, audits, and management reporting.
  • Conduct field verification and coordinate with Estate, Mill, Planning, ESG, and other relevant departments.

Profile

What we're looking for

  • Strong analytical and spatial-data skills.
  • Proficient in GIS software such as ArcGIS and/or QGIS.
  • Able to process satellite imagery, GPS, and spatial datasets.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of GHG accounting and carbon emission calculations.
  • Understanding of environmental conservation, biodiversity, HCV/HCS, land-use change, and sustainable plantation management.
  • Good data management and reporting skills.
  • Willing to conduct field surveys and work in plantation operational areas.
  • Good communication and coordination skills. Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or equivalent platforms
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience, preferably in plantation, forestry, environmental consulting, sustainability, or natural resource management. Experience in GIS mapping, spatial analysis, conservation monitoring, and/or GHG calculation is highly preferred. Familiarity with palm oil sustainability standards such as RSPO and ISPO will be an advantage.
