Description of the mission

ROLE SUMMARY

Student Recruitment Officer – Community Outreach

As a Student Recruitment Officer, you are responsible for recruiting youth aged 18 to 27 from B40 and Orang Asli backgrounds into SOLS Foundation programmes, for example the Solar Academy workforce development programme.

This is a field-based, people-facing and target-driven role. You will spend most of your time on the ground in communities, schools, PPRs and villages, speaking directly with youth, parents, village leaders and community partners.

You are expected to actively source candidates, explain the programme clearly, handle doubts and objections, follow up persistently, and convert interested youth and other groups into enrolled participants. Frequent travel to rural areas is part of the role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will:

Student Recruitment

  • Recruit participants per intake for SOLS programmes, with recruitment targets set per intake.

Programme Briefings

  • Speak directly to youth and families about career outcomes, commitment required, discipline, allowances and job placement.

Follow-Ups & Conversion

  • Handle objections related to time, money, confidence and fear of failure. Follow up consistently to convert interested youth into enrolled students.

Tracking & Reporting

  • Track leads, follow-ups, conversions and drop-offs. Maintain simple recruitment trackers and report weekly on progress and issues.

Community Access & Representation

  • Build trust with Tok Batin, parents and community gatekeepers. Represent SOLS Foundation and the Solar Academy clearly and honestly, without overpromising.
