In line with our increasing business, we are looking for a Social Consultant (Junior to Mid-Level) for our renewable energy and thermal power projects in Indonesia.

Job Description

  • Support on the social aspect of environmental and social (E&S) feasibility studies for energy sector projects (natural gas, LNG to Power, biomass, Waste to Energy, wind, solar, hybrid, etc.) and potential other sectors e.g. infrastructure.
  • Support environmental and social due diligence studies for energy sector projects and potential other sectors.
  • Support as lenders environmental and social advisor during the construction and operation energy sector projects and potential other sectors, including supporting consultations with Project Affected Persons and other stakeholders in Indonesia.
  • Supporting Project Managers in the preparation of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) and E&S Management Plans. Provide guidance on social matters, including regulatory E&S requirements during the ESIA process.
  • Consulting experience and/or proven ability to perform the key functions of a consultant, including supporting multiple social projects simultaneously under tight deadlines with limited oversight.
  • Lead social surveys, field evaluations and assessments, and fieldwork for stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Coordinate in collecting a variety of data and prepares reports, maps, and analyses on social topics.
  • Interpret and record social data, conduct analyses, compare findings of relevant studies to local, state, and international regulations and standards to ensure compliance.
  • Support in preparing proposals (technical and financial) for social services.
  • Support other AFRY E&S staff in the region and contribute to social work outside of the region when opportunities arise.
  • Enforce ethics and compliance in accordance with AFRY Code of Conduct.
Profile

Qualifications

  • Higher professional degree in social science or related discipline (B.Sc. or M.Sc).
  • 2+ years’ experience in environmental and social consulting/management.
  • Experience in preparing International Standards Social Safeguards Reports e.g., ESIA, Resettlement Plan, ESDD, Human Rights Impact Assessment, Indigenous People Plan, Cultural Heritage Management Plan, etc, preferably for the energy sector.
  • Experience in undertaking Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDDs) preferable for the energy sector.
  • Knowledge of Indonesian regulatory E&S requirements and international E&S standards and guidelines i.e., Equator Principles, IFC Performance Standards, WBG EHS Guidelines, ADB Safeguards, etc.
  • Excellent report writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in facilitating Focus Group Discussions (FGD), workshops, public consultations, and community meetings.
  • The willingness to travel to other countries inside and outside the region to support environmental and social services.
  • Fluency in Bahasa and English.
  • Ability to work well with people from a range of cultures.
  • Ability to work independently.
