About Us
The Heritage Business Foundation (HBF) is a non-profit organisation that supports, promotes, and sustains Singapore’s heritage establishments. We work closely with traditional businesses, community partners, and public agencies to ensure that the stories, crafts, and enterprises of earlier generations continue to thrive in a modern economy.
The Role
We are seeking a proactive and empathetic Community Manager to serve as the Foundation’s primary liaison with heritage businesses and industry partners.
This role is central to our mission: you will build trusted relationships with business owners, learn about their operational challenges, and ensure they receive timely and effective support. You will be both an advocate and a problem-solver - the first touchpoint heritage business owners instinctively reach out to when they need help, advice, or connections.
You will be working closely with a small executive team, and will be reporting to the Executive Director. You will be given regular guidance, and will have the opportunity to contribute in a collaborative environment. Some flexibility in work arrangements will be accorded, as you will often be on-site engaging with heritage businesses and other stakeholders across Singapore.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Management
- Serve as a concierge for heritage businesses engaging with the Foundation, and the main point of contact for heritage business owners
- Build trust and maintain strong relationships with business owners and their teams
- Conduct regular outreach and check-ins with heritage businesses and industry partners to stay updated on developments and concerns
Needs Assessment & Documentation
- Identify and document operational, financial, and capability needs of heritage businesses
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of business profiles, challenges, and support provided
- Collect and organise data to support programme evaluation, reporting, and policy engagement
Problem Solving & Case Management
- Resolve straightforward operational issues directly where possible (e.g. connecting businesses with relevant resources or information)
- Escalate more complex challenges to the appropriate internal teams or external partners
- Coordinate follow-through to ensure that businesses receive timely and effective assistance
Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
- Seek out and engage with volunteers, partners, donors, and other stakeholders to mobilise resources for businesses in need
- Plan and execute engagement activities for the Foundation’s community, including heritage businesses, partners, and other stakeholders
- Provide ground-level insights and feedback to inform the Foundation’s strategy and programme design
Application Details
Applicants are invited to submit their CV, and a cover letter outlining their interest in and suitability for their position. The letter should also include their outlook on arts, culture, and heritage stakeholders, as well as their vision for engaging them effectively and building a diverse community. Applications which include examples of previous work relevant to this role will be viewed favourably.
Applicants may expect the process to include the following stages, subject to minor changes:
- Applications
- Assessment tasks
- Interviews
- Reference checks
- Applied case study
- Final interviews
Applicants who may not fit the profile entirely, but who have a clear vision for this role are also encouraged to apply. However, applicants must have the legal right to work in Singapore, as visa sponsorship is not available.
