Job Title: Communications Intern

Contract Type: Internship (6 months)

The Context

Makesense is an international design and innovation organization that spurs social change towards sustainability and inclusivity. We work with diverse stakeholders to bring about social and behavior change, and systems change through our unique, tried-and-tested methodologies in innovation, community mobilization, and strategic communications.

Founded in France in 2010, Makesense has a rich history in developing and implementing programs and tools to facilitate organizations’ contributions to advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Today, Makesense has 4 hubs across the globe, all working towards enabling social good in various sectors.

At Makesense Asia, our programs focus on sustainability, clean energy, public health, circular economy, inclusive employability, and innovation. We implement social and behavior change strategies in all of our programs. Our communications team enables this mission through impact-driven strategic communication projects, ensuring that we empower Filipino advocates to influence the narrative landscape and enact social change.

It is our dream to (1) mainstream progressive narratives that are strategic to social change, and (2) amplify marginalized voices and bring these closer to centers of power and influence.

Your Mission

You will be delivering the communication executions of our programs and initiatives of Makesense. You will create stories and support the communication campaigns we passionately craft and nurture come from people-driven insights and are informed by best-in-class Human-Centered Design and Social and Behavior Change Communications strategies.

You will be working directly with the Communications Lead of Makesense along with the programs leads and officers in coordination of the details for the content that you will be producing. You will learn the creative processes and methodologies of Makesense and how to craft effective storytelling communications.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to content strategies and develop content calendars
  • For Makesense’s general storytelling communications and;
  • For programs and initiatives in collaboration with the Communications Lead and program leads
  • Execute high-quality communication assets to support ongoing programs and initiatives
  • Create graphic design collaterals in both print and digital needs using the branding provided by each program or initiative
  • Write captions, newsletter emails, and thought leadership content using the tone and approach of the programs and initiatives
  • Edit short-form videos such as Reels or TikTok for the programs or initiatives
  • Post and schedule social media content on multiple social media platforms based on the content calendar
  • Support the Communications Lead to enhance the overall communication strategy of Makesense Asia and its programs
  • Research current trends, news, and updates in the social and environmental sector in the Philippines and Asia
  • Conceptualize narratives to produce impactful storytelling content
  • Record the data and analytics of our social media accounts

We are looking for an individual who believes in the power of storytelling and radical collaborations to influence systemic change! On top of that, there are certain skills and qualities that we believe would make an extremely strong candidate for this role:

Your profile

  • You are a college student or fresh graduate from any university with knowledge in marketing, media, and communications, developing high-quality content from ideation to execution, and social media management.
  • Educational background in Communication, Media Studies, Advertising, Marketing, Fine Arts, or other related fields is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • You are knowledgeable in using Canva, CapCut, or similar creative design tools and software.
  • You have proficiency in copywriting as this will make a huge difference especially in crafting clear, concise, and impactful messages.
  • You have a background in social media management especially on the following platforms: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok.
  • You are a digital native and storyteller who thrives in utilizing digital platforms for good including engaging with people online and being at the center of the thriving digital communities.

What would make you an outstanding candidate

  • You have strong organizational skills, can work independently, and can thrive in a diverse and multicultural environment.
  • You are always willing to learn more; for you, giving and receiving feedback is key to personal and organizational growth
  • You have previous active engagements with university or youth organizations which have inspired you to work for the good of others
  • You have experience developing branding and design identity for campaigns or brands
  • You have the ability to do multimedia creatives including copywriting and editing short-form videos
  • You like to improve your eye and heart for storytelling through data analysis and insighting, and you can apply your learnings to the different aspects of end-to-end content execution.
  • You are both fluent in English and Filipino, any other language is an asset (especially Filipino languages).

Logistical Information

  • Start date: Jun 25, 2025
  • Contract type: Internship (6 months)
  • Work hours: We have a flexible work arrangement but our core work schedule is Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm.
  • Location: Work From Home but we have an office in Ortigas Business District and we come to the office at least once a week.
  • Approximate time required: 20 hours per week on average.
  • Compensation: Php 10,000/monthly + Php 2,000 transportation & connectivity allowance.
