Description of the mission

Role objectives

You will work closely with Léa Klein, Asia Head of makesense, as well as with department leads Allyanna Maxine Malvar, who leads our Philippines incubation programmes, and Hyrah Jeachelle Santos, who leads our employability programmes for disadvantaged groups in the Philippines, and Anjenica Maramag, makesense Asia Operations Manager.

  • Lead and steer key projects across the Philippines, acting as Head of Programs while actively contributing to the design and delivery of high-impact initiatives
  • Support and empower department leads in the Philippines through thoughtful line management, day-to-day guidance, and leadership development
  • Act as Chief of Staff to the Asia Director when needed, ensuring strong coordination across departments, programs, and governance.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and nurture the Philippines Programs Team, creating the conditions for high-quality delivery through guidance, feedback, and continuous support.
  • Ensure all programmes are designed and delivered in line with makesense standards, across facilitation, documentation, reporting, and impact measurement.
  • Oversee the full programme cycle—from design to implementation and evaluation—ensuring strong alignment with our mission, strategic priorities, and funder expectations.
  • Support teams in navigating complexity by providing guidance on problem-solving, risk management, and key decision-making throughout project delivery.
  • Act as a strategic partner to project teams, helping shape implementation choices, manage risks, and build strong, trust-based relationships with partners, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Represent makesense in engagements with partners, funders, and the broader ecosystem, contributing to the organisation’s visibility and credibility.
  • Foster a strong team culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and impact, where people feel supported and empowered to do their best work.
  • Lead and support Southeast Asia-based team members by setting clear objectives, monitoring progress, and enabling their professional growth.
  • Cultivate a cohesive, high-performing team environment, encouraging peer learning, ownership, and collective success.

Logistical Information

Start date: May-June, 2026

Contract type: flexible contract, based on the selected candidate’s preference

Work schedule: Part-time, 2.5 days per week (flexible arrangement)

Location: Remote / Hybrid (Metro Manila preferred)

Compensation: Php 74,000/monthly gross compensation

Profile

Who you are:

  • At least 7 years of experience in program management, project management, or leadership roles in NGOs, social enterprises, development projects, or consulting;
  • Proven experience managing teams and overseeing multiple projects at the same time.
  • Strong experience in program design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting;
  • Comfortable working with international funders, partners, and multi-stakeholder projects;
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Filipino;
  • Highly organized, reliable, and able to work independently with very minimal supervision;
  • You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and jump into programme delivery when your team needs support.
  • You bring strong sector knowledge and are able to elevate the quality of our incubation and employability programmes.
  • You resonate with makesense values and are driven to contribute to a regenerative economy and a more just and fair society in the Philippines.
