
The Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities’ Climate Policy Team (CPT) is seeking applicants for the position of Community Development Officer (CDO) for ICSC’s Enhanced Mangrove Ecosystem Restoration and Protection for Growth and Empowerment in Samar Island (EMERGE) Project. The EMERGE project is implemented under the Forest Foundation Philippine’s Tropical Forest Conservation Fund II (TFCFII) program.
The Community Development Officer (CDO) will be in charge of community-related activities (e.g., social preparation, conducting meetings, coordinating with local partners, local government offices, as well as community leaders) with a focus on activities related to the following project objectives:
- Objective 1: Assessments and Foundational Capacity Building for Sustainable Mangrove Management
- Objective 2: Community-Led Mangrove Conservation, Restoration, and Protection
- Objective 3: Establishment and Operationalization of Climate-Integrated Mangrove Ecotourism Enterprises
The CDO will report to the Project Manager for the delivery of his/her tasks and will be based in ICSC’s Tacloban Office, with frequent travel to the project sites (Guiuan and Salcedo, Eastern Samar)
Task and Deliverables
- Responsible for the conduct of community consultations and gathering information in the area of operation.
- Co-organizes and co-facilitates community meetings, consultations, planning, and integrated training.
- Conducts visits in project areas.
- Assist with logistical preparation of training, seminars, and other field activities across the project components.
- Coordinates with the climate governance team of ICSC for the implementation of the project’s strategic approaches.
- Assist in the submission of project quarterly and monthly reports.
