What is Jobs_that_makesense?

Jobs_that_makesense (JTMS) is a social enterprise operating in France and Southeast Asia. Born out of the international organisation makesense, our mission is to grow the workforce that is accelerating just and equitable transitions across society.

Launched in France in 2021, Jobs_that_makesense quickly became the country’s leading impact job platform. In 2024, we expanded to Southeast Asia, where we now serve more than 20,000 monthly users and support over 1,000 purpose-driven employers across the region.

Our mission is simple: to help more people build meaningful careers that contribute to positive social and environmental impact. We do this by providing information, learning experiences, career opportunities, and connections that enable individuals to thrive while contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive future.

Our activities

  • Job Platform: We connect purpose-driven employers and training providers with people looking for meaningful career opportunities across Southeast Asia.
  • Climate Career Accelerator: Every month, we welcome 15–20 participants to a four-week online learning experience designed to help them understand the climate ecosystem in Southeast Asia and navigate careers within the sector.
  • Hiring that makesense: We design and deliver customised capacity-building programmes for impact organisations to strengthen their recruitment practices and become employers of choice.
  • Media & Community: Through our editorial content, newsletters, social media, events, and networking opportunities, we help our community understand the evolution of the impact economy, discover career opportunities, and learn how they can become part of this growing movement.

Role Context

We are looking for an entrepreneurial professional to help accelerate the next phase of Jobs_that_makesense’s growth in Southeast Asia.

Over the past three years, we have built a strong regional presence, developed programmes tailored to the realities of Southeast Asia’s impact ecosystem, and cultivated an engaged community of professionals and organisations. We are now entering an exciting new chapter: building a sustainable business model that will enable us to scale our impact over the coming years.

Today, approximately 80% of JTMS Asia’s activities are funded through philanthropic grants. Our ambition is to diversify our revenue by developing high-value B2B services for employers, foundations, and ecosystem partners.

This role is an opportunity to build something from the ground up. You will help design, test, and grow new revenue-generating offers while contributing directly to the long-term sustainability of one of Southeast Asia’s leading impact career platforms.

Funding has already been secured for the ten to twelve months of this position. Our objective is for the role to become fully self-sustaining through the successful development of new revenue streams. If this ambition is achieved, we are open to offering equity participation and creating opportunities for the successful candidate to take on greater leadership responsibilities within Jobs_that_makesense Asia.

You will work closely with Belle and Maren on day-to-day operations while partnering strategically with Léa Klein, CEO of Jobs_that_makesense Asia, to shape the organisation’s future growth.

Profile

Your mission

As an in-house Venture Builder, your mission will be to help Jobs_that_makesense Asia become financially sustainable by designing, testing and scaling new products and services that respond to the needs of the region’s impact ecosystem.

This is an entrepreneurial role for someone who enjoys building from scratch. Rather than inheriting an existing business unit, you will identify opportunities, meet customers, prototype offers, test pricing models, close partnerships and continuously iterate until we achieve product-market fit.

Around 90% of your time will be dedicated to building and validating new revenue-generating activities. The remaining 10% will involve coordinating the team around these initiatives and ensuring smooth execution.

Working alongside the CEO, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Jobs_that_makesense Asia and helping the organisation transition from a grant-funded initiative into a sustainable social enterprise.

What you’ll do

> Build new business opportunities

  • Identify unmet needs across Southeast Asia’s impact ecosystem.
  • Meet employers, foundations, universities and ecosystem partners to understand their challenges.
  • Design and validate new B2B and B2C products and services.
  • Test pricing strategies and business models.
  • Build pilot offers and iterate quickly based on customer feedback.
  • Develop revenue streams that strengthen JTMS’s long-term sustainability.

> Drive partnerships and sales

  • Prospect new clients and strategic partners.
  • Lead commercial conversations from first contact to signed partnership.
  • Prepare proposals, budgets and partnership agreements.
  • Represent JTMS at ecosystem events and conferences.
  • Build long-term relationships with decision-makers across the impact sector.

> Build products with the team

  • Work closely with Belle, Léa and Maren to transform ideas into concrete programmes and services.
  • Coordinate pilots and ensure rapid learning from each iteration.
  • Translate customer insights into product improvements.
  • Help prioritize opportunities based on impact and financial sustainability.

> Contribute to JTMS’s strategic growth

  • Help shape the long-term growth strategy of JTMS Asia.
  • Monitor market trends and identify emerging opportunities.
  • Contribute to fundraising and strategic discussions when relevant.
  • Explore future expansion opportunities across the region.

We’re looking for someone who…

  • Loves building things that don’t exist yet.
  • Gets excited by talking to customers more than writing PowerPoint presentations.
  • Is deeply entrepreneurial and comfortable navigating uncertainty.
  • Has a strong bias toward action and experimentation.
  • Enjoys testing ideas quickly rather than waiting for perfect conditions.
  • Can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Is genuinely motivated by helping more people build meaningful careers.
  • Wants to strengthen the impact ecosystem in Asia.
  • Enjoys collaborating with small, ambitious teams.
  • Is resourceful, autonomous and resilient.
  • Is motivated by ownership rather than hierarchy.

Past experience

We’re particularly interested in candidates who have experience building products, ventures or business units from the ground up.

Ideally, you have:

  • 5–10 years of professional experience in startups, social enterprises, technology companies, innovation consultancies or entrepreneurial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, launching or scaling new B2B and/or B2C products or services.
  • Experience validating ideas through customer discovery, rapid experimentation and iterative product development.
  • Strong business development experience, including prospecting, partnership development and commercial negotiations.
  • Experience working in mission-driven organisations is highly valued.
  • Experience within the climate, sustainability, international development, education or impact sectors is a strong advantage, but not required.
  • Experience working with digital platforms, marketplaces or technology-enabled services is highly desirable.
  • Experience working across multiple stakeholders and managing projects independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Technical skills

  • Venture building and new business development
  • Product discovery and customer research
  • Business model design
  • Product-market fit validation
  • B2B sales and partnership development
  • Proposal writing and commercial negotiations
  • Strategic thinking combined with operational execution
  • Market research and competitive analysis
  • Project management
  • Budget development and financial modelling
  • Data-driven decision making
  • CRM tools (HubSpot, Pipedrive or similar)
  • Productivity and collaboration tools (Notion, Google Workspace, Slack)
  • Comfortable working with AI tools to accelerate research, ideation and productivity

This role is part-time: 3 days a week.
