➔ Description of the mission

[What the role is]

The Senior Manager serves as a lead of the Chingay Production team to organise the annual Chingay Parade as a key national level project of PA in bringing people together through building and bridging communities, promoting racial harmony and appreciation of our diverse cultures. He/She works closely with many organisations and stakeholders including the private, people and public sectors to present a high quality and refreshing Parade.

He/She will also supervises and lead teams in effectively organising other arts and culture programmes and projects of varying scale, including national and international level, to meet the division’s strategic & operational goals, as well as other national and PA events.

[What you will be working on]

General

  • Assists Senior Officers in the formulation of policies and align division’s strategic goals to meet PA’s mission and objectives.
  • Assists to plan and review the programmes and projects of the section to meet the division’s strategic & operational goals.
  • Supervises and develops staff for continuous improvement and to help staff understand PA’s initiatives and perform their assigned duties.
  • Serves as a Relationship Manager to build and maintain close working relationships with partners and stakeholders.
  • Serves as a member of the Administrative and Procurement Team to check the division’s procurement procedures and ensure compliance with government procurement policies.

For Chingay Parade

  • Oversees the conceptualisation and production of Chingay Parade including the format planning, coordination with production managers and other stakeholders, planning and coordination of the briefing sessions, practices, rehearsals and parade days.
  • Management of the volunteers and staff supporting the execution of the practices, rehearsals and parade days to ensure the smooth execution of the parade.
  • Serves as a production manager to Chingay performing groups, coordinating the groups’ participation in the Chingay Parade and its rehearsals as well as related fringe events by providing administrative and technical support with regards to choreography, training, costumes, floats, props, sound and lighting etc, to ensure their items meet the acceptable standard of the parade.
  • Conducts audit checks to ensure that the performing items comply with artistic requirements of Chingay.
  • Leads the planning and co-ordination of ad-hoc Chingay projects that enable mass participation by the community and give support to logistic and administrative matters for the programme.
  • Supervises the Manager in production and management of all the costumes, props, headgears, shoes and accessories for the entire Chingay Parade including the designing, sourcing, procurement, supervising of the appointed contractors, sorting, distribution and maintenance.

Knowledge & Skills

Minimum - 2 Years Of Working Experience

Desired - Experience in organising cultural or performing events or involvement in performing arts, and experience in in working with artistes in the performing arts circle and handling of costumes or props.

  • Proficient (written and spoken) in English and Mandarin
  • Possess creative and artistic flair, and have strong interest in performing arts
  • Able to work well under pressure and tight timelines; willing to work long and irregular hours and on weekends
