We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Data Scientist, Climate Analytics

The role holder will support the development of analyses and insights to inform management decision making related to sustainable financing.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the development of modelling and ESG analytics tools, and capabilities to provide quantitative, data driven insights to support management decisions
  • Support engagement with data and technology teams to design, develop and implement robust climate analytics capabilities
  • Lead initiatives to analyse climate, portfolio and counterparty related data to provide decision useful insights, including forward-looking analysis, to support business management and strategy
  • Support engagement in, and monitoring of, emerging industry and policy expectations and guidance related to alignment and forecasting of financed emissions
  • Work in a cross-functional collaborative team, helping to bring together a variety of stakeholders, activities, systems and processes
Profile

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Leading edge in modelling skills, including a core grasp of climate risk modelling, scenarios, measurement techniques, and their application to asset portfolios; science based targets and related climate analytics
  • Ability to work comfortably with analytical tools, such as Python
  • Comfortable working with large datasets in Excel, Alteryx and/or Qlik/Tableau
  • Very strong analytical skills, able to critically consider varied use-cases and develop analysis and solutions within challenging timeframes
  • Understanding of climate and sustainability themes, including key drivers, market developments and implications for financial services
  • Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while leveraging problem-solving skills to design solutions to core business problems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate effectively and with confidence at a senior executive level as well as with external parties and in industry forums
  • Proven ability to deliver concise, accurate, effective and timely communication; commitment and contribution to overall team performance
  • A practical ‘hands-on’ approach suited to working in a small team; proactive ownership of initiatives working independently to develop high quality work products for executive level audiences
