Role description & responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced ESG professional who is passionate about driving climate action to support the transition to a net zero economy. You will lead AIGCC’s work on Just Transition and Physical Climate Risks, both of which sit within AIGCC’s Policy Engagement Pillar of work.

This is a full-time contract position for 12 months with a strong likelihood of extension. The candidate must be based in a major Asian city with a preference for Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore or Hong Kong. The role reports to the Director of Policy and will work closely with the other teams of AIGCC.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and coordinate AIGCC’s just transition work and the physical risks and resilience working group, focusing on investor capacity building and coordinating on policy engagements with relevant stakeholders on these topics.
  • Undertake research and analysis to inform thought leadership pieces, case studies and activities to help AIGCC members better understand and engage on the just transition and physical climate risks topics.
  • Work closely with investors that are active on these topics to understand how they are developing internal frameworks and engagement tactics based on just transition and physical climate risks considerations.
  • Engage as necessary with external organisations that are active on these topics to identify opportunities for collaboration on relevant topics of interest that arise from discussions within AIGCC.
  • Work closely with the Director of Policy and other AIGCC staff to contribute to engagements with relevant stakeholders in the local, regional, national and supranational contexts.
  • Act as a key point of contact for the AIGCC Communications team in relation to content to demonstrate and communicate AIGCC’s work in these areas.
  • Collaborate with other AIGCC staff as required.
Profile

Qualifications, skills and capabilities

  • Significant experience of working on issues relating to climate change and finance, ideally in a private or public finance sector context. Alternatively, experience working in a relevant consulting or government role with professional studies or demonstrated understanding of climate change and social impact considerations
  • Familiarity with technical issues including transition and physical climate risk, financial and social impact materiality
  • Strong project management, coordination and organisational skills with proven ability to prioritise and deliver on projects
  • Fluent spoken and written English a must. Business-level language skills in other major Asian languages regarded as a positive
  • Experience in public speaking and delivering presentations
  • Proficiency in crafting and overseeing investor initiatives, navigating intricate projects marked by evolving dynamics and diverse partnerships
  • A track record of adeptly nurturing relationships, orchestrating collaboration with partners and coalitions
  • Strong organisational, project management, writing, verbal communication and interpersonal and skills with proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A motivated and proactive self-starter, and confident working independently and as a team player in a fast-growing organisation in a start-up environment
  • Desire to work in a mission-driven and non-profit environment
