[What the role is]

This is a contract position until 2 Jun 2026 as a Design & Development Officer in the Centre for Environmental Sustainability.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP)’s Centre for Environmental Sustainability (CfES) drives industry partnership for green solutions and talent development as part of NP’s Sustainability Education & Ecosystem Development (SEED) initiative. As part of our pursuit in technological and sustainable innovations, we are embarking on a new project to develop a revolutionary new extraction system for spent lithium-ion batteries (LIB) and we are currently looking for a motivated individual in the field of mechanical, environmental or chemical process engineering to join us as a Design & Development Officer (DDO)!

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supporting the Principal Investigator (PI) in pilot studies in operating chemical reactors and filtration systems.
  • Providing support for the procurement and commissioning of the pilot extraction system.
  • Day-to-day operations and maintenance of the pilot systems.
  • Collecting data and documenting findings for project meetings and progress reports.
  • Supporting the PI in procurement required for the project.
  • Managing the waste generated from the project.
  • Supporting the PI in the mentoring of student interns.
Profile

[What we are looking for]

  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team and independently as well.
  • Effective oral communication and good documentation abilities.
  • Meticulous with experience in chemical laboratory techniques.
  • Basic data analysis, technical report writing and presentation skills.
  • Some knowledge in Environmental or Water Technologies preferred.
  • Experience in operating chemical reactors and other relevant equipment will be advantageous.
  • Recent polytechnic graduates are welcome to apply.
