Job Description:
We seek a highly motivated and proactive individual to join our agile team as a Carbon and Forestry Expert. We initiate tree planting in close collaboration with our Tree Planting Partners (further TPPs) and farmers. The successful candidate will be mainly responsible in the field of project designs and provide technical support to our project managers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
For this position, we are looking for a professional who has experience in forestry projects and is eager to adapt in a fast-developing Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) industry. The Carbon and Forestry Expert will have the following responsibilities:
- Highly involved in project designs including eligibility assessments, satellite verifications, carbon calculations and project mappings of reforestation projects.
- Conduct field visits to verify eligibility assessments .
- Support the global team to continuously improve the TREEO project design methods and closely collaborate with the data team on the automatization of processes.
- Prepare project documents for the registration of TREEO projects within the National Carbon Registry (SRN).
- Create project design documents for the process of project certification
- Support the training of TREEO foresters in other implementing countries.
- Give technical advice to project managers concerning ongoing projects.
- Collect and analyze tree allometry data (allometric formulas and tree growth models)
- Conduct literature reviews, synthesize carbon standards for various sinks, and analyze the updates of national carbon policy development.
- Conduct other tasks as required.
